350 STUDENTS GRADUATE AT LAW DEVELOPMENT CENTER MBARARA CAMPUS

On April 12th, 2024, a sense of pride and accomplishment filled the air as 350 students graduated with a Diploma in Legal Practice from Law Development Centre (LDC) Mbarara Campus in its 51st graduation ceremony. Amidst the backdrop of academic excellence and the pursuit of legal knowledge, graduates, faculty members, families, and distinguished guests gathered to honor the achievements of the newest cohort of legal professionals.

The graduation ceremony marked a significant milestone in the journey of the graduates, symbolizing the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and perseverance. For many, it represented the fulfillment of a lifelong dream and the beginning of a new chapter in their professional careers.

The event commenced with a sense of anticipation and excitement as the graduates, clad in their ceremonial robes, processed into the venue accompanied by the strains of traditional music. The atmosphere was electric as proud family members and friends cheered and applauded, their faces beaming with pride and joy.

Speaking at the ceremony where she represented Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon Grace Mugasa state minister for public service commended the graduates for their academic achievements and encouraged them to exude excellence, the values of integrity, professionalism, and service as they embarked on their legal careers. She further offered words of wisdom, encouragement, and advice to the graduates, emphasizing the importance of upholding the rule of law, defending justice, and serving society with honor and integrity.

“Excellence is built over time. it is a journey, as you join the league of professionals remember that you have been nurtured excellently and the very excellence in you should be carried and seen through your professional journey and actions. I call upon u to always strive for excellence. As you join the legal profession, remember that you have been nurtured excellently and the very excellence instilled in you should be carried and seen throughout your professional journey and actions,”. She said.

In the speech delivered by Hon. Mugasa, representing Rt. Hon. Tayebwa, the Deputy Speaker extended congratulations to the graduates and encouraged them to build upon the solid foundation provided by LDC. He urged the graduates to consistently pursue excellence through their interactions and endeavors. Additionally, he praised LDC for its commitment to decentralization, evident in the establishment of regional campuses nationwide. This commitment, he emphasized, reflects the institution’s dedication to excellence and underscores its fulfillment of its mission and mandate.

In addition to the formal proceedings, the graduation ceremony also provided an opportunity to recognize and honor outstanding achievements. Prizes and awards were presented to graduates who had demonstrated exceptional academic performance, leadership, and service to the community. These accolades served as a testament to the dedication and hard work of the recipients and inspired their peers to strive for excellence in their own endeavors.

Mr. Frank Nigel Othembi, the Director of LDC, extended congratulations to those who demonstrated exceptional performance and received awards for their achievements. He highlighted that these accolades serve as a testament to LDC’s theme of “EXCELLENCE. ALWAYS.” Mr. Othembi advised all graduates to uphold the values of professionalism and ethical conduct in their future endeavors, urging them to strive for excellence in every aspect of their lives.

It is noteworthy that the top three graduates overall, across the Lira, Kampala, and Mbarara campuses, emerged from Mbarara Campus. Aine Linda Agnes, in particular, stood out as the top-performing student and was awarded the prestigious Chief Justice’s Prize.

The 51st graduation at Law Development Center Mbarara Campus was not just a ceremony; it was a celebration of achievement, a testament to the power of education, and a reaffirmation of the enduring importance of the legal profession in society. As the graduates set forth into the world, they carried with them the legacy of excellence and the promise of a brighter future for themselves and their communities. And as they took their leave, they left behind a legacy of inspiration and aspiration, reminding us all of the transformative power of education and the limitless potential of the human spirit.

Aine Linda Agnes emerged the best overall graduate in the Bar Course 2022/2023 cohort. She scored 4.80 CGPA. Our Senior Public Relations Offficer, Frank Obonyo had a one-on- one interview with her. Congratulations upon successfully hunting the Lion (Bar Course) and most importantly emerging as the best overall student.
