A BALANCE IN TREE CONSERVATION.

Our initiatives should concentrate more on traditional and fruit trees ” said the minister of Works
and transport Maj. Gen Katumba Wamala.

Over 155,000 trees are intended to be planted in schools across the country as emphasized during the
launch of the tree planting campaign dubbed MTI Green schools program on 8th August , 2023. Five
years being the target period to accomplish this mission corresponds to the five year clock climate clock
that calls upon leaders in different societies all over the world to take action about climate change
before it gets out of control.

During random Conversations about climate change and tree Conservation , fruit or food trees are not
taken into consideration yet they are multi purpose. Emphasis is nailed on trees such as pines that are
commercial based. Gen. Katumba Wamala cautions the public to strike a balance in terms of tree
Conservation for even the future people shall enjoy the non stop growing fruits unlike the commercial
trees whose benefits aren’t maximized by the future generation since they are cut down.

With planting fruits tress, commercial tree planters are not intervened and this could as well persuade
parents to give their children a hand in participating in the MTI Green schools program.
