A three days summit held in Nairobi Kenya in partnership with the government of Kenya and African Union Commission came to an end from 4-6 September ,2023. Under the theme Driving Green Growth and Climate Finance Solutions for Africa and the World.
African leaders are fronted on the right to mitigate Climate change in this summit that engaged a number of young climate change activists from all over Africa inclusive of Uganda having Linda Evelyn Namulindwa a water resource engineer and Jonah Kirabo representing the pearl of Africa.
“ In Africa we can be a green Industrial hub that helps other regions achieve their net zero strategies by 2050, he said at the summit .
“Unlocking the renewable energy resources, that we have in our continent is not only good for Africa, it’s good for the rest of the world . ” Said HE William Ruto the president of Kenya .
The alarming threat of climate change across Africa due to destruction of the environment for development such as construction of roads increased emission of carbon materials from vehicles and industries. HE Ruto came driving using an electronic car to reassure African it’s possible to mitigate the emission of carbons.
An initiative of debates having young people across various secondary schools in Uganda evolving around climate change as a way of sensitizing students about the dangers of Climate change as well as the green festival that gathers young children’s edutaining them about the beauty of greening their environment by giving attendee a tree to plant . It last happened on 3rd September 2023 at Kololo airstrip.
