BENDING STANDARDS OR MERCY
Registration of candidates who are going to sit for Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) finals this year 2023, we’re supposed to be closed by end of yesterday 31 may, 2023 as per the initial UNEB guidelines on end of normal registration for all candidates, those registering for Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE), Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE).
However in a press statement released today by the same body (UNEB ) , the examination body has extended the process of candidates registration to 7 June , 2023 .This is blessing to many stakeholders , parents, schools and Students especially those who had not completed the process of registration by initial closure date of yesterday(31 may, 2023.)
UNEB says that this is time for all the centers, parents and head teachers to certify Students bio data , registration of the remaining potential candidates with out paying any surcharge and ensure that no one is left out by the end of this extension window.
UNEB in the statement goes a head to confirm that 96% of expected PLE centers had registered candidates. At secondary level 91.2% for UCE and 86% for UACE centers had also registered candidates. Putting the total of registered candidates at all levels at one million one hundred sixty-five thousand, one hundred and fifty nine candidates (1,165,159) .
Twenty thousand, six hundred fifty six (20,656) centers are expected to register candidates this year.
UNEB says whoever misses out on this window, shall subscribe to surcharge for those registering for PLE 100% surcharge shall be paid and 50% for those of UCE and UACE in the period of June 8-30, and those candidates who will register in the last phase July 1-31 will have to pay 100% surcharge at all levels and no candidate shall be allowed to register after this window.
