She Cranes Shooter, Haniisha Mohammed has said the ultimate goal is to get themselves into the medal bracket as the team galvanises for the World Cup in South Africa, which is only nine days away.
The KCCA star also earmarked her biggest career moments, “my biggest highlight is actually playing in the commonwealth games and also upsetting Australia in the first fives.”

Haniisha joined KCCA last year and made spontaneous impact scoring 42 goals in her debut against UPDF at the East Africa Club Netball Championship. Having participated in a spate of tournaments not least the commonwealth tournament last year, this gem has come of age and looks set to showcase her dexterity in centre court in Cape Town. Her services shall be crucial if her team is to get to the next level.

Captain Eyaru shares the same enthusiasm and premonition about her nation’s chances at the finals. The team has struck another deal with Gal Sports Betting Company (GSB) who yesterday proclaimed that they have injected Ush68Million. A sum that is to be expended on the forthcoming world cup and the Africa Netball Netball Championship campaigns.

The she Cranes made their maiden participation at the Netball World cup in 1979, wherein they crashed out in round six. No showing would be made for the next 36 years until 2015 when the jinx was broken. Peace Proscovia led them to a eighth place finish.

Triumphs in the 2017 and 2018 African Championships paved way to a better showing at the 2019 World Cup where Mary Nuba steered them to seventh place. Fred Mugerwa has an stern task to pull up strings, given the absence of experienced Nuba. But he has hope in his fresh charges. “I’m confident in the team I have right now, even though most of the players that are in this squad are basically new with only a few players who played in the last World Cup.
