Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania won the bid to host AFCON 2027 through there project which was named Pamoja a kiswahili word meaning “together as one.”

On Wednesday 27th September 2023,the CAF president Patrice Motsepe at the CAF executive meeting which was organized in Cairo Egypt announced that East Africa through its Pamoja camping had won the bid of hosting CAF 2027 beating the South Africans Botswana, Senegal and Zambia plus Egypt and after the withdraw of Algeria on the eve of the vote giving a clear chance for East Africa to host AFCON finals 2027.

It’s the first time ever in AFCON history for more than one state to host AFCON. It’s historical too in East Africa since it’s the first time for the Cecafa region to host the AFCON finals from 1976 after being hosted by Ethiopia and it was won by Egypt.

This means that Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania have automatically qualified for AFCON 2027 since they are the hosts. The 35th edition AFCON 2025 has also been awarded to the 2022 world cup semi finalists Morocco to be the hosts beating Zambia and a joint bid from Benin and Nigeria. Algeria withdrew from the race to host the 2025 and 2027 AFCON on the eve of the vote
