15 Law institutions took part in the Moot Court competition 2023 where students pursuing Law in
different Universities participated from 21-23 September 2023 at Hotel Africana under the theme
“Balancing privacy Rights and National Security : Navigating the impact of surveillance Laws on
individual freedoms. ”
Teams such as Makerere University , Cavendish University , Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) Kampala
Campus , IUIU Only Females Campus , and , Uganda Martyrs University , Cavendish University,
International University of East Africa , Kampala International University , King Ceaser University ,
Uganda Christian University (UCU) Kampala Campus , UCU Mukono Campus , Pentecostal University and
Kampala International University .
Integration of law students into legal practical is the vision for the Privacy Moot Court Competitions
since 2018 when they were launched in to Uganda. Law students are exposed to internship into credible
law entities and get accolades for their exceptional performance during the competition.
On the other hand , Some students studying law in some universities are on tenterhooks after a list of
approved universities started making rounds on social media leaving netizens worries as some law
offering schools did not appear, a list affiliated to the national council for higher education involved only
11 universities accredited to teach Degree of law and the year it was approved.
This has been done to help direct the student that are willing to offer the course not putting aside the
healthy competition between the universities.
The universities that have fulfilled the given
requirements include Makerere University, Uganda Christian Uganda, Kampala International University,
Nkumba University, Islamic University in Uganda Kampala campus , IUIU Mbale campus , Uganda
Pentecostal University, St Augustine University, Bishop Stuart University, Gulu University and Cavendish
University .
