Founded in 1982, the school has a population of about 300 students according to the school administration.
This means the number of teachers aren’t enough to effectively meet the student teacher ratio in this school. This inadequacy compelled the school administration together with the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) to come up with a payment structure to pay a total of fourteen private teachers so as to balance-up the student teacher ratio.
With the enrollment of the new lower secondary school curriculum where science partials are must through out, Kaboyo secondary school also faces an inadequacy of equipment and infrastructure needed for this curriculum to be well executed.

During a meeting aimed to fundraise for construction of science laboratories and equipping the computer laboratory with computers to aid learners proceed with their academics swiftly and progressively the headteacher winnie Atukunda said “We are among the many schools grappling with these challenges all over the country , we call upon government to intervene and do its roles.”
She further called upon willing partners, parents and well-wishers to bring this idea to life at the start of next academic year 2024.

This alarm by Kaboyo secondary school tells much about the dilapidating situation in public schools and its long term effect to the out put of these schools and the continuous pull factor to its products versus students from private schools. It’s high time government addressed the matter before its impact looms out of control.
