After the conflagration at Lhubiriha secondary school, bodies of the dead were burnt beyond recognition. It’s this that tempted the government to carry out DNA tests on the remains for clarity and identification.
Tests were carried out and they have been released today(26.jun.23), and the remains of the deceased shall be handled over to their families for burial tomorrow at 11:00am(27.jun.23).
The spokesperson of police Fred Enanga has confirmed that the Ministry of Internal Affairs is in lead for conducting burial for all the deceased victims of the Lhubiriha secondary school incident. And further confirmed, that it has remained with only four people among the many arrested to help police in investigating the conflagration and murder of students at Lhubiriha secondary school and these include the head teacher, Warden, witchdoctor and one other unidentified person.
Enanga further confirmed that they are still in purse of the remaining students who were abducted by the militants after one of them was found dead at a close point of Uganda -DRC .This brings the tally of the dead to 44 people now.
The security forces continue their pursuit for the militants and all their allies. Enanga still disclosed to the press that the attackers were in a group ranging from 30 to 45 and these were led to the crime scene by a young boy who they asked for directions according to intelligence and onlookers.
