A delegation of members from the Malawi Institute of Education were hosted by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) as well as Uganda curriculum Development Center (NCDC) on 20, August, 2024.
Ahead of the first cohort of senior fours under the Competence Based Assessment (CBA) to sit for their final examinations in October, delegation members were intrigued to use it to benchmark for the reformation of theirs.
“The UNEB team highlighted some of the key processes so far including the development of assessment framework and the test items which have been pretested twice, country wide, development and pretesting of the CA digital Data Collection tool – Assessment Management Information System (AMIS) , and the project assessment , as well as stakeholder engagements for awareness creation .” confirmed UNEB on their x handle.
This journey of revising the Lower secondary curriculum has been worked on by both UNEB and NCDC from the first time the idea was fronted regardless of the short comings from the outbreak of Covid 19 pandemic that delayed the implementation of the curriculum in 2019.
The Director Examinations Mike represented the Executive Director UNEB Dan Odongo who assured the delegation that although there are some challenges, the Board is ready to deliver its first CBA baby this examination year.
The delegation from Malawi applauded the Ministry of Education and Sports for the tremendous work that they have done with shaping Uganda’s education by implementing the New Curriculum.
