Uganda air line to transport 500 pilgrims to Mecca after sticking a life awakening deal with Uganda Muslim Supreme Council
Muslims annually make their way to Mecca to fulfill the religion’s fifth pillar called Hijja. Over time Muslim faithfuls in Uganda have made the holy pilgrimage to Mecca, since Sheikh Abdullah Ssekimwanyi in the 1920s (first Ugandan Moslem to fulfill hijja). The holy journey was initially Kickstarted by prophet Ibrahim and today it collects 3 million people from across the world.

In Uganda, the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) is in charge of organizing the journey for Ugandans. This time round it decided to partner with the national airlines Uganda Airlines to fly the 500 pilgrims to the holy city of Mecca. It’s the first time the airline strikes such a deal with UMSC.
Today, the first bunch of pilgrims 250 boarded to Mecca and were seen off by government officials including the first deputy prime Minister Hon. Rukia Nakadama, Minister of transport Gen.Edward Katumba Wamala and Mr. Fred Bamwesigye from the airline . Who believe that this is a vote of confidence to the national carrier and a step forward for all Ugandans to start flying with Uganda Airlines.

Since the revamp of the airline, many Ugandans had shun away from travelling by the airline tagging it unserious and of low standards. Thanks to the Civil Avaitaion Authority , ministry of transport and Uganda Airlines who tirelessly worked jointly to improve information dissemination among Ugandans about the airline, brand the airline to the public and dimisfy all the lies about the brand of the Uganda Airlines.
Now that , Uganda Airlines can execute transportation of large continents safely, should be the turning point for the airline to take over business not only in Uganda but also East Africa and Africa at large and start making its own money for sustainability and for expansion in resources. We look to witness how the Uganda Airlines management triumphs on the Mecca trip to better the airline.
