Ekisaakaate program an initiative by Nabagereka Development Foundation founded by the Queen of
Buganda Her Highness Nabagereka Sylvia Nagginda in 2007. The first edition happens every beginning
of the year in January and the second one in July for the children based in the diaspora .
Young people are taken to the camp so as to learn various cultural ethics and how to better themselves into
adulthood. This year the camp took place at Homisdallen school Gayaza Campus with over 350
participants from 10th to 19th January , 2023 .
“ This is particular important because of its significance in terms of naturing the generation of Uganda
and critical for reviving our traditional values and should be a rallying point of all Ugandan children and youth and we navigate through life.” Said Andrew Adrian Mukiibi the chairman of the Nabagereka Development Fund (N.D.F) during the launch of the 17th edition of the Ekisaakaate on 10th January ,
2024.
Andrew Adrian Mukiibi the chairman of Nabagereka Development Fund(N.D.F) highlighted more about the major theme of the Ekisaakaate “ Okulafulinira Obuntu bulamu .” With the escalading number of
young people using internet are exposed to a number of dangers like cyber bullying and free access to pornographic content .
The students attending the Ekisaakaate also referred to as “Basakaate ” are
expected to upgrade their confidence , proper use of internet . They make brickets from banana peelings , papers , Ash , mud that contributes to environmental conservation through maximizing the
wastage to resources.
“ Ekisaakaate Kya Nabagereka is a tool critical for reviving our traditional values and should be rallying point for all Ugandan Children and youth as we navigate through life .” said Princes Katrina Sarah Ssangalyambogo while kicking off the training program as she thanked MTN Uganda that handed her
40M Ugx contributing to the Ekisaakaate .
“ In Ekisaakaate , I have learnt how to make Jewelry and when I reach home I am going to cook Luwombo . Thank you Nabagereka for Ekisaakaate because it has helped me learn a lot of things.” Said
Hannah Lean Kirabo while speaking to CBS radio.
During the closure of the Ekisaakaate , the Minister of Education and Health in Nabagereka’s office
Nakatte Kikomeko encouraged the students to teach their fellows who were not able to attend humility and give their parents peace of mind for they spend 60% of their time worrying about their children
especially during payment of school fees.
“ I want to appreciate you Mama Nabagereka through your foundation for thinking about such a great initiative that instills discipline and culture among the. Youth said John Musinguzi executive director of Uganda He thanked NDF for having Uganda Revenue Authority tag along this season’s Ekisaakaate
teaching the young people about basic principles of taxes.
In attendance was also Kizito Mukalazi the Director of Homisdallen schools, he gives gratitude for having
hosted the Ekisaakaate , the school got more exposure on all social media platforms and pledged to be
given a chance to have Homisdallen host the annual program more
