NO FUNDS FOR EDUCATION LOANS HESFB.

Students with the hope to apply for students loans from The Higher Education Students’ Financing Board (HESFB) to commence their higher academic studies 2023/2024 , are saddened with the board’s released public notice that they will not receive any loans for students who will want to apply for loans for the academic year 2023/2024.

The Higher Education Students’ Financing Board (HESB), is Uganda’s public students’ education Financing board. The board has a task of giving out education loans to students to continue with their higher education. The institution was established in 2014 by an act of parliament , Act No 2 of 2014, with the obligation to improve access to education through supporting students with loans which they later on repay , in a period of one year after graduation.

The institutions’ initiative until now has yielded success, with 13,405 beneficiaries , 9198 (74.5%) male beneficiaries, 4207(25.5%)female, pursuing 130 degree programmes, 76 Undergraduate diploma programmes in 22 chartered University and 36 other tertiary institutions.

In the public notice released, Micheal O.Wanyama board executive director attributes its decline to students education loan applications for 2023/2024 academic year to budgetary shortfalls. However HESFB assured the continuing beneficiaries of support in their education for the academic year 2023/2024, wanyama affirmed that HESFB has embarked on engaging all stake holders in resource mobilization to resume supporting the next students cohort to get education loans for academic financial year 2024/2025.

In his remarks acknowledged that the budgetary shortfalls, have caused discomfort and inconveniences to multiple students and sincerely apologized for the aggravation caused.
