PUPILS SURVIVE BURNING IN A BUS

70 pupils and 13 teachers of Pallisa Girls Primary School narrowly survived getting burned when the tire
of the bus they were travelling in burst. This incident happened when the pupils were returning from a
musical festival at 1:00am Wednesday morning near Atoot swamp on Mukongola Road in Ngoora
district.

The East Kyoga regional Police spokes person Oscar Ageca said that students and teachers were safely
evacuated with no injuries however all property on board was destroyed. The fire brigade responded to
the emergency to put out the flame.
The pupils did not continue with their journey even when Kakise bus the company they used to travel
had brought them another bus to transport them to their destination. The pupils slept in a nearby
church and headed to their destination in the morning.

Oscar said all property was destroyed including the items that were used in the music festival and
luggage leaving the bus in shell form and waiting onto the police to take it to the region’s central Police
station .
