Calm down a single off Rema’s album Rave and Roses released in 2022 was remixed in August 2022 with America’s award winning singer song writer Selena Gomez and produced by Andre Vibes , wins category for the best Afro beats song of the Year in a new category in the Video Music Awards VMAs 2023 that took place in New Jersey Prudential Centre.
Calm down remix also got nominated in the best Collaboration of the year and Song of the year categories.
Originally known as Divine Ikubor alias Rema a visionary 19 year old talented unknown young person landed his fist break through in 2019 with “ Dumebi ” that went viral and introduced him to the world . He performed a cover from one of the former members of the Marvins D’prince who is among his Icons where he got noticed hence getting signed to Jozing world and later on officially to Marvins Records owner by Don Jazzy .
Being the first African song to have a billion streams on Spotify calm down was number one on the Hot 100 charts for 52 weeks . While receiving his accolade, Rema accompanied by Selena Gomez gave shouts out to all people he looks up to in music in his speech. 2Baba , Don Jazzy , D’Banj , D’Prince, Runtown , Timaya ,Wizkid , Burnaboy and Davido inspire Rema to bring out the best from his music which he termed as Afro rave a fusion of Indian and Arabian sound , as well as said his Kudos to the young generation of artists
