SEETA HIGH SCHOOL MBALALA CAMPUS WINS 2024 UNSA CHAMPIONSHIPS.

On 30 August, 2024, the 3rd edition of the  Uganda National Secondary schools (UNSA) Championships were held at Holy Cross Lake View Secondary School in Jinja under the theme “Amplifying Students’ Voices for The Attainment of sustainable Development Goals”

Seeta High School Mbalala Campus’ Angella Nakivumbi enabled her school emerge as winners of this year’s championships with poetry also referred to as spoken word being exceptional.

The one week event hosted students from over 250 schools across the country sponsored by Global Learning For Sustainability (GLS), Uganda National Students’ Association, Sumz  , United Nations Population Fund ( UNFP) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)

Country representative UNDP Vwede Obahor appreciated student’s efforts towards ensuring the implementation of the SDGs because this is essential for nurturing the next generation of leaders. She emphasized the importance of continued support and investment in different activities spear headed by young people to create change.

She also urged more young females to engage in leadership, decision making, and advocacy and assume their rights to be among the top decision makers.

UNDP believes in the power of young people as drivers of development and peace and appreciates such platforms because they prepare, sharpen and retool the future generation to be brave, bold, ideas oriented and to command to be the top of decision-making process.

The patriotism Commissioner Hellen Seku the chief guest was represented by Brig. Gen. Felix Kulaigye on the 5th day.  His emphasis was majorly about the youth’s role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) encouraging students to use their voices and talents to address global challenges and contribute to prosperous Uganda.

Patriotism and more extra education sensitivity must be practiced by young people for the success of the 17 SDGs by 2030.
