“We might have some slight changes, we need that game more than ever because we want to qualify as number two from the group which will be better for us.” Mugerwa said.
Uganda netball team She Cranes find themselves in a rather poised situation – with their final game of the preliminary round with Trinidad and Tobago to come this evening at 5:00pm EAT. The two teams have three points apiece, as they have both beaten Singapore and lost to juggernauts NewZealand. She Cranes shall hope to finish second ahead of their rivals.
If any of the first two games are to be considered, then Mugerwa’s girls should finely creep into the next round. The first game saw them romp to a 57-37 victory against Singapore. While the second encounter against NewZealand, albeit having a different outcome, they stouted and gave the Oceanias a run for their money until the final quarter. They fell to a 54-44 loss. This game also saw star shooter Mary Nuba score a mammoth 30 goals while the win against Singapore unleashed the devil in Hannisha Mohammed.

Mugerwa could only laud his ladies for improvements after the NewZealand encounter. And now he has got his sights fully set on the Trinidad game. “We might have some slight changes, we need that game more than ever because we want to qualify as number two from the group which will be better for us.” Mugerwa said.

Trinidad and Tobago is the only nation apart from Australia and NewZealand to win the competition, doing so in 1979, and is currently 11th in the world rankings.
The next round will have two groups, featuring top three teams from all the four groups in the first round. The top two teams from each of the second round pots will enter the semifinals.
