By Katongole Arnold

“There are people who don’t like the existence of the kingdom. We know them and we are seeing all their actions, I call upon the people of Buganda to open their eyes to these people whose intentions are to crumble the Kingdom.” Comments of Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II

Today marked thirty years of Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II’s reign. His first coronation on July 31 1993 at Nagalabi Buddo, saw Buganda kingdom out of 27 years of political crisis.
The thirtieth coronation celebrations took place at the Kabaka’s palace at Lubiri Mengo. Lots of dignitaries from former Katikiros Eng.JB Walusimbi, Owekitibwa Mulwanya Ssemogere and owekitibwa Dan Mulika, to officials from Buganda government, the central government, opposition, religious leaders , business community and distinguished guests were in attendance.

The kabaka went further to ask government to allow the federal system of governance so as power sharing is achieved as this will foster better economic development and regional balance. According to Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, discontinuing the youths from fishing on their waters should be dealt with civility rather than Military. Failure to do so may result into unwanted altercations and high crime rate which will be a problem for the country.

“Stay where you are, development shall find you there. The priceless gift you own is land. You people in
Buganda guard your land jealously, work hard , keep your land.” Kabaka continued to advise the Buganda people. The kabaka clearly ridiculed those who take Ugandans to outside countries and leave them to suffer while there and taking them to do jobs that are not of standards where many have died and others get stranded there yet the masterminds of these dubious and heinous actions are earning lots of money from their wrong doings at the expense of others.

In his speech, the Kabaka of Buganda , Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II further warned Youths and all people in Buganda and Uganda not to go in for those low quality jobs abroad and not to sell off their property to go outside the country because those people who take them don’t like them instead their vision and objective majority is money.

The kabaka concluded his speech by thanking all those who have stood with Buganda since inception and those who have supported his administration for the thirty years. He used a biblical analogy when he said that for all those who read the bible you know it well that Jesus did his first preaching at thirty, similarly am just beginning my service to Buganda .
