During the first week of the Uganda Certificate Of Education examinations (UCE) , a girl whose names reserved for privacy gave birth to a healthy baby girl on Day four of the exams 19 October, 2023 . She had stayed home according to her parents since she didn’t have a paper that day besides sitting for all papers of the past three days ,at around 1:30 pm she experienced labour pains and was rushed to the hospital.
Kalule Jennifer the UNEB spokesperson said the candidate was in position to sit for physics paper 3 the following day .
On the other hand, two students die suddenly one was suffering from sickle cell Anemia and the other was a special needs Education candidate.
Meanwhile as other students were in a tag of war with their future in the examinations room , candidates at Nampita Secondary School in Yumbe district are alleged to have been assisted by their teachers on Thursday 19 October as they entered the examination room with smartphones , laptops and power banks.
According to Jenifer Kalule, “In west Nile, police of Yumbe arrested six teachers of Nampita secondary School and an invigilator sent to supervise examinations in the same school .
The group is charged with possession of unauthorized material and disturbance in an examination room. The seven include; Obbo Julius Ceaser a teacher of Economics , Angukoru Josephine a teacher of Biology, Ntibiringwa Bonnieface , Wasswa Godwin ,Bamukabirwe James , Okello Emmanuel and Sadam Hussein and Orema Bosco the invigilator.”
She later added on saying that a UNEB scout suspected these teacher’s actions during the Biology practical hence reporting immediately to the UNEB authorities
