The 13th edition of the Inter University Media Challenge (IMC) sponsored by DW academy and Media Challenge Initiative (MCI ) are back. Students pursuing Journalism and Mass Communication at all levels of Certificate ,Diploma and Bachelor’s degree in different universities and institutions across the country auditioned to participate. At stage one participants freely choose among news anchoring , live reporting and one minute of fame in front of the judges so as to receive feedback.
Participants from different universities and institutions were invited at the Media Challenge Initiative hub at Kabalagala to go through the version of radio soft ware to be used at the Radio Contest from 19 – 20 October , 2023 for six of the contestants to go to the final stage of the National News Room Contest (NNC) scheduled from 13- 17 November , 2023.
Among the 16 contestants , 11 Universities emerged at the Radio Contest that’s to say UMCAT school of Journalism and Mass communication, Uganda Christian University , Makerere University , Victoria University , Ndejje University , YMCA, Makerere Business institute , Multi tech business School , St. Lawrence University and Uganda Martyrs University Nkozi .
Faiza Fabz a presenter at the might breakfast on capital FM, Sandra Cope a presenter at NRG radio , Mr. Henrie a presenter at Galaxy FM and Simon were the judges who gave their verdicts and feedback to participants .
Contestants executed their artistry in compiling a 30 minutes radio show with full radio imagery that’s to say jingles , sweepers , news , adverts , intro and outro. Six contestants in the order of ;

Makerere University .
Victoria University.
Multi take Business School .
Kampala International University.
Kampala university and Multitake business school tied in the sixth position to make it seven contentestants through to the final.
