UNEB HIRES 14000 TEACHERS

The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has hired 14000 teachers to expedite the marking of student’s scripts. The exam body indicates that about 6000 teachers have been invited to mark Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) while 8000 have been contracted to deal with Uganda Certificate of Education and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education exams.

The marking process will go on until end of December and we expect to release the first set of results which is PLE during the third week of January 2024, UNEB spokesperson Miss Kalule Jennifer told media on Monday.
She further revealed that the exercise kicked off in 33 marking centres in the districts of
Kampala, Mukono and wakiso. “We are preparing for the marking of scripts of the two levels, PLE and UCE.

The candidates for UACE will finish writing their papers on December 1st but a huge number of them got done on last Friday”, she said. She added on that they can’t reveal where exactly the marking centres are but they are with in Kampala, Wakiso and Mukono for easy coordination.
This year’s PLE examinations started on 7th November with briefing of students and on 9th November they did their last papers. A total of 749,347 candidates from 14442 examination centres registered for PLE out of which 53% were females while 48% were males.

UCE started on 13th October with a briefing of students and on 17th November candidates wrote their final papers. 364421 candidates registered with UNEB but 184,064 candidates were females and 180,357 candidates being males. UNEB had 3861 examination centres.
UACE examinations that started on November 10th are to end on 1st December ceteris paribus. At this level 110,569 candidate registered with UNEB for examinations of 2023 of which 47,227 (43%) are female while 631,342(57%) are males
