By Shiba Nakakande

The Uganda National Examination Board released the theme to be used by senior threes in 2025 project work.

On 28th February, 2025 the board called upon headteachers to follow-up on the theme for teachers and learners to implement effectively in a document by Sebastian Ngobi AG. Executive Director.  “Utilization of available Resources for community Development” must be reflected in the projects submitted to UNEB in 2026 as the candidates prepare to sit for their UCE examinations.

Project work is a part of the current lower secondary curriculum, and it tests students’ creativity, teamwork, and innovation skills with their ability to identify real-world problems in their communities. Analyze them critically to come up with suitable solutions, write a report, and execute the project.

The 2024 candidates scored As and Bs in project work which was attributed to the learner’s preparation for this and put creativity and innovation to task. Learners in different schools came up with phenomenal projects for example, Emmy Bindeba from   Makerere College School came up with a solar concentrator, and Katumba Andrew Felix from St, Augustine’s College Wakiso invented a magnetic engine that uses magnetic forces to operate mechanically connected to a motor to change kinetic energy to electrical energy.

“Mindful of the timeliness and its importance to the learners’ acquisition of skills and certification at the end of their cycle.” Noted Sebastian.
